Email Etiquette


What you write and how you use email can effect whether your email gets delivered, read and responded to. Make the effort to practice these 5 essential elements in every email you send.

1. Do not use email ti discuss sensitive information
• It is not secure to discuss sensitive information via email unless you are using encryption technology

2. Do not send or forward offensive email
• By sending or forwarding any defamatory, offensive, racist or obscene email, you may be subject to million dollar penalties.

3. Do not forward chain email
• Just delete the chain email as soon as you receive it.

4. Do nor overuse the high priority option
• If you overuse the high priority option, it will lost its function when you really need it.

5. Take care with abbreviations and emotions
• If you are not sure whether the recipient knows what does it mean, it is better not to use it.
